Helpful Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time of year to take this 8-day circuit?

October to March is the best overall season. During these winter months, temperatures across Tamil Nadu (Madurai, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari) are pleasant for temple visits and ocean sightseeing, and the Kerala coast (Kovalam, Varkala) has calm seas and clear sunsets. From June to September the monsoon brings lush greenery, but sea conditions at Varkala and Kovalam can be rough, so rain gear is recommended.

Can this circuit be done in reverse (starting from Kerala and ending in Madurai)?

Yes. Many travelers arrive via Cochin (COK) or Trivandrum (TRV) airport and conclude their journey in Madurai (IXM). We seamlessly reverse the itinerary without any additional surcharge.

What are the dress code rules for Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Trivandrum?

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple maintains strict traditional Kerala temple etiquette. Men must wear a plain white or off-white mundu (dhoti) around their waist and remain bare-chested (a ceremonial angavastram can be draped over shoulders). Pants, jeans, shirts, and dhotis worn over trousers are strictly prohibited. Women must wear a saree or half-saree; churidars and salwar-kameez are only permitted if a traditional dhoti is wrapped over them. Dhotis are available for rental or purchase right outside the temple gates for ₹50–₹100.

Is it possible to complete all 22 Theerthams at Rameshwaram Temple?

Yes. Devotees first take a holy sea bath at Agni Theertham (situated 100 meters from the temple entrance) and then proceed through the inner temple courtyards where temple attendants pour water from each of the 22 consecrated wells over you. Changing rooms are available immediately after the 22nd well. Dry traditional clothes must be worn for darshan of the main Ramanathaswamy sanctum.

Are interstate permits included in the cab tariff?

Yes. When you book a multi-day interstate package with Rithish Tours & Travels, commercial interstate permits for entering Kerala (at Kaliyakkavilai) and returning to Tamil Nadu (via Aryankavu / Puliyarai near Tenkasi) are handled by our office and driver. Everything is clear and upfront with zero surprise border tolls.

Is Varkala beach safe for swimming?

Varkala has strong currents in places, so swim only in the lifeguard-marked areas at Papanasam Beach and follow local guidance. Many travelers prefer to enjoy the cliff views, walk the shoreline and take a dip in the calmer sections. Swimming is generally not advised during the monsoon months.

Can we add a houseboat stay in Alleppey to this circuit?

Yes. If you have 9 or 10 days, adding 1 night on a private luxury houseboat in Alleppey (on the way from Varkala toward Cochin) is the most popular extension. Contact our desk for a custom 9N/10D itinerary quote.

How do we confirm the booking?

Simply message or call our 24/7 Madurai desk at +91 97902 46008 or submit the booking form on this page. We provide instant customized quotes and confirmed vehicle numbers with a nominal advance payment.
